They have dirt and material left behind the shell and do not want to .. mother, or should we get to wash the mother herself?

Dump the walnuts in a bowl with water and a little dishwashing detergent. Swish around and then rinse. I almost anything with dirt and bacteria are not transmitted into the interior. This is not really a big problem in doing this and it's worth it. It is not necessary to wash the nuts
Add: do not whistle in a small bowl of liquid to soak and rinse the clams. Only tap water over them does not eliminate the bacteria
